BPW/MI Monday Minute February 5th, 2007
As you curl up by the fire to stay cozy and
warm on the coldest of days of the year, how about thinking SPRING!
Yes, Spring is just around the corner, and we should be thinking of
Spring Regional Meetings, Reality Stores in your schools, who you
can sponsor to send to the University of Life June 22-24th at
Saginaw Valley State University, and how many of your Local BPW
members are going to make Leadership training and the State
Convention at Boyne Mountain May 18-20th. And the National BPW/USA
Conference in Reno, NV in July when Michigan’s very own Barb Henton
will be installed as BPW/USA President!
It is not too early to plan to make these events a success. Without
planning, the time will be here and gone and you will have missed it
all!
We are presenting a workshop on the University of Life March 7th in
Frankenmuth at the Michigan Transition Services Association State
Conference. This group is our biggest users of the Reality Store
Program. They are the Intermediate School District (ISD) Transition
Coordinators of every district in the state. Their continuing
support and renewals of the Reality Store are a big support to BPW
Michigan. Tell your area ISD coordinators to look for us at their
conference, attend our workshop and send their girls age 10-17 to
the University of Life.
University of Life can use your support too. Sponsor a girl,
volunteer to be a facilitator, and/or send donations to the BPW
Michigan Foundation to support our Program Funds.
The Youth BPW has been active this year, meeting by conference calls
monthly and some will be at the State convention to promote their
activities. Alma has a local YBPW that I meeting regularly. Watch
for more action from this group as they grow! The youth are the
future of this organization, the more we can support and promote
them, and the stronger the BPW message will be heard throughout
Michigan.
Individual Development and Young Careerist will not have
representatives at the State Convention this year because no one
have completed the process that I am aware of. We offered one hour
of the ID program at each Regional Meeting this fall, so we have
more than 50 on their way to complete the program. Anyone interested
in hosting a full program or a few modules at the local or regional
meetings, send me an e-mail jbbassett@charter.net or give me a call
at 231-409-6579. The modules are ready to use by any trained
facilitators – and we have 30 trainers in Michigan. Lets put them to
work. Individual Development Program is for your development……… you
DO NOT need to compete if you take the program. Just grow and learn
more about yourself and that is a great reward in itself. Give
yourself that gift.
Think Spring – think BPW – plan now to be part of the big picture in
Michigan.
