BPW/MI Monday Minute March 20th, 2007
The Healthy Families Act has been reintroduced in the US Congress.
This is one of the bills BPW/USA lobbied about this year along with
the Heart for Women Act and the Women's Retirement Security Act.
The Healthy Families Act would provide full time employees with
seven paid sick days a year to be used for themselves or to care for
a sick child, spouse or parent. We need you to contact your
Members of Congress and encourage them to become co-sponsors.
If you are looking for a speaker for one of your meetings, you may
want to contact the Women Legislator's Lobby. They are a
national non-partisan network of women state legislators who work
together to influence federal policy. We need more women
running for office and they can tell you how to get started.
Go to www.willwand.org for contact information. They have a
new chapter in Southeast Michigan.
Don't forget that March is Women's History Month. Let's spread
the word on the amazing women who have come before us.
(If the information in this Monday Minute looks familiar it is
because you have been reading he Legislative Update from BPW/USA.
If you don't get the update, log onto BPW/USA's website and sign up
today.)
