This Monday minute is an opportunity for those long-time members to take a step back into BPW memory and an opportunity for newer members to look at a chance to broaden their horizons and for all of us to support two of our members to continue to assist in furthering the mission of BPW.

Barb Henton, member from Midland, is expecting to step into the President-
Elect of BPW/USA role during the National Conference in Dallas in July 2006.  This is an awesome opportunity and responsibility for her to take on. This means that in 2007 she will be installed as the President of the Business and Professional Women of the United States of America.  WOW!!!  (NOTE:  We’ll need $10,000 to $20.000 to throw a real Michigan party for some 800 members at the National Conference in RENO in 2007) 

Trish Knight, current President of BPW/MI and member from Battle Creek, is one of three “running” for the office of BPW/USA Recording Secretary.  Upon her election, she will be in the “step-up” series of offices in preparation for taking on the leadership of our great organization.   WOW!!  (NOTE:  We’ll need about $2,000 for campaign money for Trish for this year.

Work and funds are needed in several areas to support our extraordinary candidates.  A significant amount of funds were raised at the Spring State Board Meeting.  A Michigan event is in the works for National as a major fund raiser.  Events at National are great fun, and an opportunity for us to work together for a significant goal.  

Both of these members need the support of all of us to make their job as taking on the responsibility an easier one.  The support comes in several ways and here are some options for you to help: 

• Attend the State Conference in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, May 19-21.
• Encourage all the members of your local organization to attend
• Attend the BPW/USA Conference  in Dallas July 19-22
• Encourage all the members of your local organization to attend
• Find some ways to fund raise to help out with the National events that Michigan is responsible for (every dollar counts)
• Encourage all the members of your local organization to participate
• Send any ideas/suggestions/etc that will help with this effort to me at s.zeller@sbcglobal.net
• Encourage all the members of your local organization to come up with ideas/suggestions, etc.
