Michigan Members Visit Big D!

Our Michigan members visited Dallas, or as the Texan say, Big D. & had a great week at National Conference. Not much time for the sites around the city, but some of us did manage to find a day to visit the Women's Museum, 6th Floor Museum (about the Kennedy assassination Nasher Sculpture Museum & SHOPPING.

Just as promised, Texas does things big, & conference held up to that promise. BPW/Texas made all attendees feel that big Texas Welcome & helped all members with a zillion questions. There was a wide variety of workshops & training sessions. Our national officers were assessable, informative, & most of all approachable. As you know, that part is very important to members, be able to talk face to face with our leadership, no matter what the level. The Saturday evening Texas Bar-B-Que was outstanding. Great food, fun dancing & great friends all mixed together. Here's our new friends we made while in Texas & sharing the week with friends made from previous conferences.

Our first Meet Michigan Lunch was meet with great success. Those in attendance said as they departed that they had a great time & truly enjoyed the great take home bags that we gave. Thanks to all members who donated, found businesses who donated, & just gave lots to help us make these goody bags, of Michigan made products a great hit. An event like this takes lots of the behind the scenes folks to make it work, those on site for the event & those members who helped but could not make the trip. THANK YOU A BUNCH!

Congratulations to our new BPW/USA President-elect Barb Henton. She gave an exciting & enthusiastic speech that rallied all members together. This will be an exciting next two years, with Michigan once again at the national forefront with a Michigan member as our National President. We also want to thank Trish Knight for a great campaign. Even though this was not her year, we will support Trish in the near future when she decides to seek national office.

I have more thoughts & experiences from conference than will fit on this page. I encourage you to find a way to attend a national conference in the future. I guarantee, you not leave the event without learning something new about yourself, this organization, something new to share with other members in your local, & the making of new friends from across the nation. I'll have more to share at Fall Boards in October.

Thanks ya'all,............................Penny
