Greetings! As summer days are getting shorter, I’m sure many clubs are holding planning meetings to get ready for the coming year in BPW. I hope that one of the main items on your agenda is Public Relations. As defined in our Michigan Manual, “Public Relations….sharing the mission and vision of BPW within your community”.  

Each local should have a Public Relations chair (sometimes called Communications Chair or Media Chair). The Michigan Manual gives a job description. Be sure to give a copy of this to your PR chair if they do not already have a Michigan Manual. 

There is also good information on the internet. When you access our web page at www.bpw-michigan.org you can then click on Members which will then give directions for accessing the “members only area” where you will find many good resources. 

One of the areas I recommend is the link to bpw/usa which includes items that can be downloaded and printed, such as the BPW/USA Public Relations Tool Kit. This tool kit contains many tips and ideas for increasing visibility. 

Keep Public Relations as a priority in your planning and remember to also share your successes.
