University of Life and the YBPW
are alive and ready to promote the 2007 program at Saginaw
Valley State University June 22-24, 2007. The girls are
willing to make presentations at Regional or Local BPW
Meetings to promote and recruit both adults and youth
including college age mentors for the program.
The Individual Development Program can be done in
segments as short as one hour up to the full 14-hour
program.
We now have a tracking system for you if you take one or
more hours in several separate sessions. All those in
attendance at the University of Life Program in Traverse
City (53 adults and youth) are credited with completing two
modules.
At all the Regional meetings we expect to complete at
least one module, and vary the program so you will get
credit for each one you attend. No obligation, the
Individual Development is just that for your personal
development. Competing in a Speak off is a personal choice,
not a requirement of taking the course.
These are great freestanding programs to use at BPW
meetings, community workshops, and like I said, at Regional
meetings around the state.
Here is how our tracking of the ID Modules will work:
Schedule a Certified ID Trainer (there are at
least 30 in the state) to present at your meeting,
or attend any meeting in the state for any module.
Call or e-mail me if you need help finding a
trainer. We will send you a copy of the module card
to give to your participants.
Send the complete registration list to me
jbbassett@charter.net
o
Include names, addresses, e-mails, etc. of
those who completed the module
o The
date, the presenter, and the location of the
event, and which Module was completed.
o I
will keep a record of which modules each of
you have completed, and you will get your ID
Certificate when any individual completes
all 14 Modules.
o We
hope to present these if possible at a State
or Regional Meeting and publish your name in
the Michigan Business Women (MBW)
Newsletter.
Young Careerist Program can be established by any BPW
Local Group. Contact Denise Allen denise.allen@stjohn.org
for details. Young Careerist programs are meant to introduce
young women (under 35) to BPW. Recruit, mentor and welcome
these young women.
If they choose to participate in the Speak off
competition, wonderful! But, this program is more about
bringing them to BPW; it is not a requirement to compete.
Reality Store - We have a PowerPoint presentation
that can be used for presentations to school groups, BPW
Local organizations and to the ISD Transition Coordinators.
The updates for this year will include both an
alphabetical listing of Careers, and a Career
Pathways listing so that the kids can see the career
category they want, and the courses and amount of education
required within that category.
Now, don’t say you can’t think of programs to fill your
calendar- they are all right here!
Watch for your Regional Meetings this Fall, they are for
EVERYONE. Take along a member that has never been
outside your local meetings. It will make them want to grow
BPW in their community. Ask if you have a question, that’s
what our committee people want to do.
