BPW/MI Monday Minute September 5^th, 2005

We would like to be the first to invite you to the BPW/Michigan 2006 State Convention that will be held in the Beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The 2006 BPW/Michigan State Convention will be held at the Kewadin Casinos Hotel and Convention Center May 18-May 21, 2006. For those of you who traveled to the Sault in 2002 for the Convention, you will remember the wonderful time everyone had, and for those of you who are new or were unable to attend, come find out what a hidden treasure it is.  

The Kewadin Casino and Sault Ste. Marie has a great deal to explore. Whether you like to have fun in their world-class facility that provides all the excitement of Las Vegas-style gaming in a friendly Northern Michigan atmosphere, enjoy fellowship and friendship in one of the intimate lounges, relax by the pool, or site see, there is something for everyone. 

Some of the area attractions include visiting the historic downtown, peeking in all the unique shops, and while there, watch the ships from USA and Canada pass through the Soo Locks. Visit the Great Lakes Shipwreck Museum or the Valley Camp Museum Ship.  

We have a lot of fun and surprises in store for you. The Convention will begin Friday, May 19, 2006 with registration. The Leadership Development Program will be held during the day, which will be followed by the Formal Opening Ceremonies. Saturday, May 20 will begin with registration, and our Business Meeting. Saturday evening will be the Installation Celebration of Penny Modlin, our President-elect. Sunday, May 21 will start with the Memorial Service that will honor our past BPW Sisters. This event will be a great way to show how much we love and miss them; we encourage everyone to attend. Breakfast will follow along with the conclusion of the Business Meeting. 

We will once again request all locals to secure Convention Sponsorship/Program Advertising to help defray the costs. Also, we are looking for vendors that may be interested in displaying their unique and special items.  

Registration is available on-line at www.bpw-michigan. Early bird registration by April 15, 2006 is $145.00; Installation Banquet Only is $55.00. After April 15, 2006 the price will be $160.00.  Sleeping room rates are: Single/double-$83.00, Triple-$93.00 or Quad-$103.00 and can be made by calling 1-800-KEWADIN. Please make sure you tell them our group number 392341 to receive the group room rate. 

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the Sault and remember – Stand Up – Stand Out – Take Charge. Leaders are not born, they are made. Come help celebrate the leader within you. Take charge with BPW and direct the future.
