Today will be a day of remembrance, honoring of those who perished. Those who where going about what they thought was a regular work day, and those who’s work is to go into disaster situations despite what may happen to themselves. No, I did not personally know anyone who lost their life in the NYC Trade Centers, but I know those who helped originally in the construction of the towers. I had visited these structures & saw the how they dominated the city the skyline. I can only imagine scene of five years ago because of the news coverage. But I know that the camera lens can have tunnel vision so the full scope of the disaster cannot have the full impact on me as it would on those at the site.

This summer I traveled to Oklahoma City & visited the site where the bomb went off in the downtown area. Again, I did not know anyone personally who perished in that disaster so I did not expect an overly emotional reaction when visiting the memorial site. But both Gary & I had the similar reactions once we were walking through the memorial. We heard the survivor stories, the rescuers account, actual structure damage & much more.

As large as this damage was, it did come close in size as the Twin Towers. So at this time, I encourage each one to take a moment to say a prayer for families who lost someone, that God will hold them to his heart to comfort them. And also say a prayer of thanks for all your blessings in life.

Today, fly your flag colors proud & true. For today, we are united as a people in our remembrance of those who have pasted.
