BPW/MI Monday Minute October 17th, 2005 Check your mailboxes!!! And mail in your checks!!! You will soon be receiving your annual Michigan BPW Foundation year-end donor request. The most important reason to donate to the Michigan BPW Foundation is to help our Foundation to promote educational programs. Educational programs that are to be funded include programs and scholarships for : a) Young women starting out or preparing for business or professional work; b) Women desiring to obtain better training or advancement in their careers; c) Training or re-training of women in a business or professional field, either entering initially or re-entering; d) Women desiring to complete a GED, graduate or post-graduate studies, master’s or doctoral degrees, or advanced studies of any nature; e) Women desiring to do research in an area relating to the advancement of women, including, but not limited to the field of the legal status of women and, f) Programs introducing youth to career opportunities. § I would like to encourage locals to include the Michigan BPW Foundation and the Georgia Emery Scholarship Fund as line items in your 2005-2006 budgets. § You may also help the work of the Michigan BPW Foundation by bringing your old cell phones to the Fall Board of Directors Meeting in Big Rapids. Do not bring cords, boxes or other accessories, as they will only be discarded. There will be a cell phone collection box near the registration area throughout the weekend for your convenience. Your donation is tax deductible and donor receipts will be provided. § If you are interested in serving as a director on The Michigan BPW Foundation Board of Directors, please contact Barbara Klocko penny2@usol.com or 810-667-9766 for further information regarding an application. There is a vacancy for a term expiring 5/31/07. § Members of the Board of Directors are always willing to visit locals to explain the work of Michigan BPW Foundation and get to personally know the women who are lighting the way for so many others. We receive letters all the time thanking donors for the life-changing scholarships and the encouragement to pursue higher goals. Barbara Klocko President Michigan BPW Foundation
