BPW/MI Monday Minute November 7th, 2005 Good Monday Morning, I have always been fond of Monday. It seems no matter how much I messed up last week Monday gives me a fresh new start. I am still reeling from our Board meeting in Big Rapids. What an exciting time to be a member of BPW/MI. Helping to change the by laws, forming policy that will set the standards for future members and new locals as they form. All of us want to be active and involved, we need leaders with forwarding thinking ideas and the strength to stand up for changes that will help us grow. As I was working on my text for today I came across this quote, “You can't leave footprints in the sands of
time while sitting down. “ Now is the time for you to Stand Up, Stand Out, Take Charge—BPW/MI needs your footprints in our future. We are looking for qualified women to serve as State Officers for 2006-07. A description of each of the Vice Presidential offices can be found in the Michigan Manual, By laws for BPW/MI (gray section) Article XIV. The offices of the Michigan Federation open for election are: President Elect Vice President, LegislationVice President, Finance and Treasurer Vice President, Communications/SecretaryPlease submit the following for each Candidate to the Chair of Nominations:
issue of the Michigan Business Woman (should not exceed 200 words)
Nominations will be accepted prior to the opening of the 2006 State Convention. Nominations may also be made from the floor. Each nominee must be endorsed and submit a written consent to serve to the Nominations Chair. The opportunities to build and refine your leadership skills while serving your fellow members, are a very special part of what membership and involvement in a non-profit organization can hold in store for you - an opportunity to develop skills and experience in campaigning in general - which is very helpful if you ever decide to run for public office! Please let me know if you have questions or if I can be of assistance to you in any regard.
