BPW/MI Monday Minute December 12th, 2005 Happy Holidays to BPW women and men of all ages!Do you have young girls on your Christmas list? Why not give them a certificate to the University of Life this summer? University of Life is our weekend esteem-building program for girls 10 – 17. The program utilizes both the Reality Store and some of the Individual Development program modules for the teens. What better way to say you care to the neighbor that mows your lawn, someone who helped with your Reality Store, or to your niece, daughter, granddaughter, or to the daughter of a friend in this age bracket. Just e-mail me jbbassett@charter.net the name and I will send you a personalized certificate in time for your Holiday Giving, and I will bill you in the spring when all the details for the program are complete. We are in the process of gathering prices and options from colleges around the state for the location of this year’s program. MSU is booked solid with 10,000 boy scouts for the month of August. We are looking at late June dates and locations before the girls get too busy with other activities. Several girls who have attended the program are working on this committee. Our committee will be making the decision on when and where the program within the next few weeks. If you know anyone that wants to be included, let me know. All of your suggestions, and help, are always welcome. Remember, any girl ages 10 to 17 is eligible to attend. Any adult that wants to be a facilitator, let me know. We will make sure you have the materials and training to make you a “pro” before the program starts. The Youth BPW Girls (those who have attended the University of Life programs, at least once) have lots of decisions to make this year. YBPW is an ongoing leadership program for the girls. Several of them have now reached the “age beyond” the intent of the program. Some are in college, some in the working world. The girls, themselves, have started making recommendations for changes to this program, and are looking at transition ideas, student memberships, Campus BPW organizations, etc., so they can move forward within BPW Michigan.
We have several ideas for a peer group for these young women so they can keep in contact and utilize continuing BPW relationships. Your ideas are welcome. Remember, this is the generation that will keep BPW alive for the next 87 years!. We are looking for names, contact e-mails and phone numbers of the girls from the past fifteen years to help develop the right BPW program for these young women. Any contacts and/or suggestions you may have will be appreciated. Send information to me jbbassett@charter.net Best Personal Wishes for Happy Holiday Season, Jan Bassett, Signature Event Chair, PSP
